Learning to “Do” History

History is stories which make up the past and have shaped present day. Its a time line of information and knowledge which has taught people today what we know. Without these archives we could not achieve a lot of things, or predict the future to better prepare us. Documenation, photographs, personal diaries, family trees, oral story telling are all ways which make up history. There are many approaches and no one way to “do” history; all are imporant in order to have “successful” history.

In this class we learned to “do” history by analyising primary documents, watching videos which reenacted the past, we read all sorts of documents and had open class discussion. We learned to research and how to find the information we needed. You can’t be bias while “doing” history or else it isn’t honest or accurate. Understanding historical events is a never ending process and more can always be learnt or discovered.
